J&K: Court Rejects Bail of Woman in Murder of Husband and Father-in-Law

In a recent development in Jammu and Kashmir, the Additional Sessions Judge Doda Amarjeet Singh Langeh has rejected the bail application of Renu Devi, who is facing trial in the murder of her husband and father-in-law. The judge, while exercising traditional reluctance to thoroughly appreciate the evidence led by the prosecution, stated that every relevant consideration in the matter goes against the petitioner at this stage.

The judge emphasized that no fragility in the evidence of prosecution led till date could be traversed to allow the application. Considering the nature and character of evidence available on record, gravity of the charge, and the punishment that an offence under section 302 of RPC carries, the court deemed that the application of the petitioner has no merit at this stage and therefore dismissed it.
