Snowfall Chances over plains of Kashmir

Finally First snowfall over plains of Kashmir possible 31 Jan or 01 Feb with Max chances North Kashmir 90% followed by South Kashmir 75% and Central Kashmir 70% including Srinagar City. 

Second Western Disturbance Impact: Seasons First Snowfall possible Over #Plains of Valley from Tomorrow Night /Early Morning of 31st Jan Including #SrinagarCity. No Major Accumulation Possible for Srinagar.

February 1st and 2nd are expected to be generally cloudy with light rain or snow possible in some areas later in the afternoon or evening.

Looking ahead to February 3rd and 4th, the forecast suggests the possibility of light to moderate rain or snow in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

For the Jammu Division, intermittent light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is anticipated in the plains.

Higher reaches, including areas such as Banihal, Ponch, Doda, and Kishtwar, could experience light to moderate snowfall on January 30th and 31st, as well as on February 3rd and 4th.

𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙨𝙩 of first snowfall in Kashmir Division

● 30th-31st Jan: Possibility of Light to moderate Rain/ Snow at many places of J&K with chances of heavy snowfall over few higher reaches( Kupwara, Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Shopian, Kulgam and Anantnag dist)

● 1st-2nd Feb: Generally cloudy with Light Rain/Snow at few places towards late afternoon/evening.

●3rd-4th Feb:Possibility of Light to moderate Rain/Snow at many places of J&K.

Jammu Division

● Possibility of intermittent light to moderate Rain with thunder/Lightning in plains of Jammu Division with light snowfall over higher reaches with moderate snowfall over isolated higher reaches (Banihal, Ponch, Doda & Kishtwar) during 30-31st Jan & 3-4th February.

1. The system may Lead to temporary closure of roads of higher reaches and important passes like Sinthan pass, Mughal Road, Sadhna & Razdan pass, Zojila etc. during 30-31st Jan.

2. Travellers are advised to Plan accordingly.

3. Farmers are advised to withheld irrigation and fertilizer application & drain out excess water from Orchards and fields during the above mentioned period.
