In a real-life display of the 1999 blockbuster movie ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, a man in Bihar’s Nawada district helped his wife reunite with her boyfriend and got her married to him. The only deviation from the movie plot was that the woman chose to go with her lover.
A video going viral on social media shows the couple tying the knot in a Shiv temple in the presence of her husband. Visuals show a woman’s boyfriend applying vermillion (sindoor) on the woman’s forehead and people can be seen recording the dramatic act on their mobile phones. The woman is seen crying inconsolably in the video as her boyfriend applies sindoor on her forehead.
The affair came to light when the woman went to meet her boyfriend at his house late at night while her husband was out for work. Unfortunately, unlike previous times, the couple were caught red-handed by their family members, who beat the man and held the two hostage. Furious villagers even asked the couple to leave the village.
However, when the woman’s husband came back and found out about the incident, he took the couple to the temple and married his wife to her lover. The woman’s boyfriend is also married and has three children.
When contacted, officials stated that they have taken cognisance of the incident, but no complaint has been filed so far.
